A quick update on the microbrewery’s renovation. The ticket booth is no more. This got people’s attention. The ticket booth was not original to the structure. We’ll be installing a big garage door in the next couple of weeks.
Kind of dark, but here is what the other side of that door looks like. The big silver thing at the top of the picture is the air conditioner duct. We are raising the ceiling so that duct has to be raised as well.
In order to open up the brewery space, we removed the sound booth that separated the front of the building from the theater. All of these 2x4s came down and out. Lonnie Edwards and crew helped remove all the nails and he’ll be re-purposing the lumber.
Below, you can see how beautiful these walls are. We won’t change a thing about them. Even the galvanized tin patches are cool….and part of this place’s history.
Insulation temporarily stored on the stage. We’d like to keep the stage, but with the amount and size of the equipment we’ve spec’d there’s just not enough space.
So the number one question we get wherever we go is, “When is the brewery opening?” I wish we could tell you. Right now, it’s looking like early 2016. We are the first brewery in Bell County, the first in the Waco TABC District…and we are learning as we go. So far everyone has been helpful and the process is moving along… it’s just a really long road.
