Summer Lecture Series with Dirk Aaron

Today we will be joined by Dirk Aaron, the General Manager of Clearwater Underground Water Conservation District (CUWCD) since June of 2011. Prior to that he served as an Extension Agent for the Texas AgriLife Extension Service for more than 30 years.

Clearwater is a single county GCD serving the geographical region of Bell County. Dirk is charged by his elected Board of Directors to manage the District in accordance with the District’s Management Plan per Chapter 36, with an approach of fairness, efficiency and collaboration with all water user groups. CUWCD also has an Education Trailer that includes interactive displays to help residents of all ages understand ground water supply better.

Dirk currently serves as the President of the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts and has Chaired their Legislative Committee the past three years. Dirk was recently elected to the board of directors of the Texas Water Conservation Association.

Dirk received his Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University – 1981 and received his Master of Science Degree in 1991 from Texas Tech University. He and his wife of 36 years, Cindy, have two sons; Colton 31 and Cameron 27 and proud to have two grandsons ages 8 and 5. Dirk and Cindy live in Salado, Texas and are members of Tapestry Community Church of Belton and are active volunteers in their Church and help out local 4-H & FFA members.
